Frequently Asked Questions
UNITY Mobile is an easy-to-use subscription service, providing publishers with everything needed to create, manage and distribute mobile Web sites, mobile applications and SMS campaigns. What makes UNITY Mobile unique? One of the hardest things to do in any industry is to take something complex and make it into something simple. We believe that mobility is the future the Internet and have set out to make our product fit right into the evolution of the industry. Just as innovations in web technologies and services have made the Internet accessible by virtually anyone and an essential part of business and personal life, our innovation comes from breaking down the major barriers of the mobile channel and literally making it act more like innovative web services technologies and business models. We eliminate the high costs of technology and services, remove the need for highly specialized skills, end long deployment and management cycles, and make it easy to access virtually any mobile consumer across all major devices and formats. By making our platform able to easily interact with a wide variety of technologies and services via what is essentially becoming our universal API, we are able to extend a wide range of web services, from simple websites to highly complex enterprise solutions, to the mobile channel in a highly efficient way that leverages the best of the mobile environment and the best of individual operating systems and devices. One of the most unique and innovative aspects of our platform is our use of STANDARD WEB PROTOCOLS which provides our customers and channel partners with a powerful single point of entry to the entire mobile ecosystem, simplifying the complex and fragmented market. Our mobile service delivery platform is packaged as an easy to use, web-based subscription service that enables organizations of any size to cost-effectively publish, distribute and manage platform agnostic mobile applications, high-performance mobile websites and SMS campaigns using standard web protocols. These instantiations of mobile data services are easily integrated with existing web services through our easy to use web-to-mobile tools and API’s which provide significant value and flexibility. Is there a “Secret Sauce” and how is UNITY Mobile different from other mobile platforms? Our platform is web services oriented. We leverage a .net framework, internet standards such as http, html (including some elements of html 5), css, javascript, xml, ajax and other technologies as part of our platform. Our manipulation and structure of the data is very special and unique. We are certain that other companies are not treating data in a way we have developed, and that makes it possible to so quickly and easily do what we do now and in upcoming releases of our platform. This is highly unique, and a format / design of our own creation designed to drive and expand our unique platform agnostic offer. Our platform agnostic applications and services leverage native browsers and leverage key aspects of the mobile environment and individual device feature sets. This approach delivers efficient, cost-effective deployed services across the entire mobile landscape (i.e. iPhone, Symbian, Windows, RIM, Windows Mobile, Android), whereas other mobile platforms typically use proprietary client server technologies that have a high cost of entry and ownership and are not able to support the rapid, mass adoption of mobile services for companies of all sizes and types. This is a significant point of differentiation between us and other solutions in the market. We look like the Internet of the future, whereas most mobile technology providers look like client / server solutions from the past. While so much of the messaging and marketing of technology companies sound similar, there are significant differences between what we offer and what you will find elsewhere. We continuously look at a wide variety of offerings in the marketplace and have not found a similar offer, based on similar strategic vision or architecture. For example, UNITY Mobile is:
UNITY began with a vision. But before undertaking the major investment of time, money and resources into building the UNITY Mobile platform ourselves to deliver on that vision, we looked at many options of integrating existing pieces of what we wanted from various sources in the market. We could not find adequate solutions that met our requirements. In order to deliver on the vision of a single, web-based solution for mobile applications, mobile web and SMS packaged as an easy to use subscription model that can connect with virtually any web services technology to seamlessly extend and integrate operations to the mobile channel we had to build it from scratch. We had an advantage. We had a very advanced platform already developed as a starting point that has been used for custom application development and service delivery for several years to major media companies and network operators. We saw the light and decided to create the platform of the future to respond to what customers told us they were already wanting today – a simple way to make everything they do in the web services world easily extend to mobile. We retooled and invested heavily for over seven months before launching Beta service in January 2009. We continue to invest heavily in our team and technology to build not only significant product differentiation, but strategic advantage in the market.
